Frequently Asked Questions

HOW DO I GET STARTED?

We make it easy.  Just call us at (561) 279-9885. We can discuss your care needs over the phone and/or we will arrange a time to meet with you and your loved one.

We can refer caregivers to provide services ranging from one hour a day to around-the-clock care, and we will strive to refer and match you with a caregiver who meets all the criteria that you specify.

We work hard to ensure caregiver-client compatibility and in most cases, care services can begin the same day.

HOW DO YOU SELECT CAREGIVERS?

All caregivers we refer to clients are thoroughly screened before they can become a registered caregiver, available for referral, through La Nurse Home Care Registry.

Every caregiver meets with multiple members of our office staff in person and we perform behavioral assessments (to ensure competency and quality) and then we conduct a thorough reference check, including Level 2 criminal background check, and drivers license verification check.  All caregivers meet all requirements of the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) including: License and/or certification verification, Physicals upon registration, CPR certification, Assistance with Self-Medication Certificate, HIV/OSHA Training, Palm Beach County Badge (if HHA and work in Palm Beach County).

All caregivers have Professional Liability Insurance and have the necessary experience to help your loved one.

The owner Aric (see Why Us tab) will personally meet with each client.  We recommend caregivers to you and your family based on the skills you request and the personality traits necessary for a great relationship.  If you are ever unhappy with the caregiver, just let us know and we are happy to refer another caregiver.  Client satisfaction is our #1 priority!

In accordance with Florida law, all caregivers referred are independent contractors.

WHAT IF MY CAREGIVER NEEDS TO TAKE OFF?

When your caregiver wants to take a day off, we are available, at your request, to refer you a replacement caregiver who will also strive to provide you with consistent, continuity of care on a regular, relief basis.

IF I NEED SOMEONE AFTER OFFICE HOURS, WHAT DO I DO?

A member of our office staff is always on call after hours 24/7 to handle new referrals, or if a concern arises.  Just call us (561) 279-9885 (Palm Beach) or (954) 582-9885 (Broward).

HOW DO I PAY FOR SERVICES?

We accept Assignment of Benefits for most long term care insurance policies, private pay, checks, ACH withdrawal and most credit cards.

DO YOU ACCEPT ANY INSURANCE?

We accept most long-term care insurance and will process all your paperwork for you.  We accept an Assignment of Benefits and can bill your insurance policy directly.  We make it simple.

ARE THERE ANY BENEFITS FOR VETERANS?

Veterans and spouses of Veterans may be eligible for funds through The Veterans Aid and Attendance Program.  Call us to discuss.  We can help with the process.

ARE CAREGIVER SERVICES COVERED BY MEDICARE?

Medicare does not pay for routine Activities of Daily Living provided by a CNA/HHA.  If you or your loved one has a condition that might trigger your Medicare benefit (physical therapy or occupational therapy), we will refer you to a well-respected, Medicare Certified Home Health Agency, who will perform an assessment to determine if you are eligible to receive care.

With that said, we often work alongside a Medicare provider to provide the Activities of Daily Living support.  For example, your physical therapist might come to your house for a visit, but they don’t care for the rest of your needs on a daily basis, ie. bathing, toileting, dressing, ambulation, meal preparation.  We are here to meet those needs.

ARE YOUR REFERRAL SERVICES AVAILABLE TO THE ELDERLY IN NURSING HOMES, ASSISTED LIVING FACILITIES OR HOSPITAL?

The caregivers we refer to a client can provide private duty home care services wherever the client resides.

For hospital and rehabilitation stays, we can also refer caregivers for that one on one experience.    Most long term care insurance policies do not pay for services in the hospital or rehabilitation center, so payment is by private pay, but sometimes, the need is such that one on one support is invaluable.

CAN I CHANGE MY SCHEDULE IF MY NEEDS CHANGE?

Yes, changes are easily accommodated. Your needs always come first.  You might need more care after an acute event such as surgery, but as time passes, your schedule might change.  Similarly, as your loved ones care needs increase, we can adjust with you.

DO YOU PROVIDE REFERRALS FOR SHORT-TERM CARE?

Yes.  If you or your loved one just had surgery or is recovering from an acute event or a fall, we can help.  There is no minimum length of care requirements.

DO YOU PROVIDE HOSPICE SUPPORT?

Yes.  We refer caregivers who are sensitive to this very difficult time.  The caregivers referred often work alongside a Hospice Provider to care for a client’s daily needs.

WHAT ARE THE RATES CHARGED?

Rates are based on the type of services you require, the hours needed, and the rate requested by the caregiver who is providing the services to you.  Just call us, we are happy to discuss the rates with you.
